“CIA with BA” wins back-to-back honors at PMPC Star Awards

  Public affairs program Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda (CIA with BA) scored consecutive victories at the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television, winning both the 37th and 38th editions of the annual event.   The 37th awards, originally for 2023, were delayed due to the pandemic and other concerns. They were finally held on August 24, 2025, months after the 38th PMPC Awards took place last March. Despite the unusual schedule, CIA with BA was named Best Public Affairs Program in both editions.  Its hosts—Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Senator Pia Cayetano, and Boy Abunda—were also recognized as Best Public Affairs Program Hosts.   Quezon City-  Boxing icon and former Senator Manny Pacquiao has distanced himself from imported lead-containing paints bearing his image and signature --- without his authorization --- as uncovered by the EcoWaste Coalition during its recent market investigation.  In response to the letter sent by the EcoWaste Coalition last July 31, Pacquiao through his legal counsel at Gacal Law Firm asked responsible entities to stop the use of the former lawmaker’s name, image, signature or any representation that suggests endorsement or affiliation with the non-compliant paints in question. “We appreciate your efforts in bringing to our attention the use of Senator Pacquiao’s name, image, and signature on YiAD Paint products reportedly containing lead.  Please be advised that, as of this writing, Senator Pacquiao has no knowledge of any existing contract, license, or agreement authorizing YiAD Hardware Tools Co. Pangasinan- The Bond Experience, based in Europe, has helped more families in the Philippines, particularly in Pangasinan Province in Central Luzon. Rachel Grant, a Filipina-British actress of a classic James Bond girl, 'Die Another Day' said that they had assisted 25 families under their 'Meals of Joy' program. The Bond Experience, by David Zaritsky,   is a social media platform and lifestyle brand celebrating the world of 007 James Bond. FDCP empowers Bacolod actors with Meisner crash course

  BACOLOD City-  Actors in Bacolod City recently took part in an intensive crash course on the Meisner Acting Technique. The Film Development Council of the Philippines organized the five-day training, through its FDCP Film School and Cinematheque Centre Negros, in collaboration with Meisner Studio Manila, The Negros Museum, and the Negros Cultural Foundation, Inc. Headteacher Angeli Bayani facilitated the workshop with support from apprentice teachers Elora Españo and Ross Pesigan. The program offered local talents a unique opportunity to explore the principles of modern acting through a series of dynamic lectures, hands-on exercises, and collaborative activities. EcoWaste Coalition Asks Boxing Icon Manny Pacquiao to Dissociate Himself from Paints with Toxic Lead

  Quezon City.  In a bid to prevent further distribution of paints with high lead content in stores nationwide, the toxics watchdog group EcoWaste Coalition urged the “people’s champ” and former Senator Manny Pacquiao to dissociate himself from a China-made lead-containing paint brand with his image and signature on the label. In an urgent e-mail sent last week, the group notified Pacquiao that it has purchased and analyzed assorted colors of YiAD Paint depicting him as its “celebrity endorser.” He is shown on the front label wearing boxing gloves and a jacket with the YiAD logo and with his signature superimposed. FDCP, FSG hold screenwriting workshop in Bulacan

  City of Malolos-   The Film Development Council of the Philippines and the Filipino Screenwriters Guild recently conducted a five-day intensive Screenwriting Workshop in Malolos in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Bulacan and its Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office. FDCP Chair and CEO Jose Javier Reyes opened the workshop with a video message, hoping to transform raw ideas into compelling scripts under the guidance of industry professionals. PHACTO OIC Head May Arlene Torres welcomed the mentors from FSG, the organizers from FDCP, and the 20 participants  from Bulacan, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Iloilo, and Davao.
