“CIA with BA” wins back-to-back honors at PMPC Star Awards

Public affairs program Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda (CIA with BA) scored consecutive victories at the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television, winning both the 37th and 38th editions of the annual event.

The 37th awards, originally for 2023, were delayed due to the pandemic and other concerns. They were finally held on August 24, 2025, months after the 38th PMPC Awards took place last March. Despite the unusual schedule, CIA with BA was named Best Public Affairs Program in both editions.

Its hosts—Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Senator Pia Cayetano, and Boy Abunda—were also recognized as Best Public Affairs Program Hosts. The show’s recognition came shortly after its premiere in 2023. Now on its 11th season,

CIA with BA continues the legacy of the Cayetano siblings’ late father, Senator Rene Cayetano, whose program Compañero y Compañera guided Filipinos on legal concerns in the 1990s and early 2000s. In a Facebook Live, Senator Alan thanked viewers for their support. “We try to keep things entertaining, but more importantly, we make sure the show really helps people solve their problems. That’s what matters most,” he said.

“Thank you po for supporting Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda. I hope nakakatulong [ang programa.] And remember, we have to learn together,” he added. In his acceptance speech at the 37th Star Awards, Boy Abunda also thanked the viewers and reflected on the value of the show. “Pumupunta po ako sa mga tapings, handa para matuto. And I realized that doing this show has made me a student for the rest of my life. Ang dami-dami po ang natututunan… It’s the excitement about doing something uncertain. Going into that space that you’re not sure of. That continues to excite all of us,” Abunda said.

Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda airs every Sunday at 11:00 P.M. on GMA 7. Episodes are also available on GMA’s official YouTube channel.#
