General Santos City - This city is once again to become a breeding ground for young athletic talent as it hosts the 2025 Batang Pinoy National Championships from October 25 to 31, 2025. Around 15,000 participants from across the country are expected to take part in this prestigious grassroots sporting event — all with the hopes of becoming the next champion like GenSan's hometown hero, Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao.
During the signing of Memorandum of Agreement, the PSC and the GenSan local government vowed to give a remarkable experience for all aspiring national athletes, ensuring that all essential aspects including competition venues, athlete billeting centers, comprehensive security plans, and medical services will be in place and ready.
This initiative supports President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.’s call for stronger grassroots sports programs, which he emphasized during his recent State of the Nation Address (SONA). Batang Pinoy, alongside Palarong Pambansa, is part of the government’s push to nurture the next generation of Filipino athletes.
“Ayaw ko pong masaktan at mahirapan ang mga atleta natin—kasi this is a showcase for General Santos and Philippine sports,” said PSC Chairman Pato Gregorio.
