Pacquiao shifts focus from politics to return to boxing career
Boracay Island- Pambansang kamao Manny 'Pacman' Pacquiao is out to prove that he is still the boxing legend as he shifts focus from politics, going back to his anticipated title match this July
Crisostomo Aquino, former flag bearer of Pacquiao, told this writer that the boxing legend has already accepted his defeat in the 2025 synchronized national and local elections.
Aquino served as the flag bearer of Pacquiao in the early years of the 20th century. They still consider themselves good friends.
"Paguqiao confirmed to me that he is set to fight a challenging WBC Welterweight champion Mario Barrios, in Las Vegas this July. Details of his training are still being finalized," he said.
Pacman vied for a senatorial slate in the recent May 12,, 2025, national and local election but failed to get a slot.
It was Pacquiao's son, Michael Stephen, who told the media that his father, the boxing legend, had already conceded to the recent election.
"Pacquiao is expected to channel his frustrations into the boxing match against Barrios and will ensure that he will win," Aquino further said.
Pacquiao's last boxing match was against Yordenis Ugas on August 21, 2021. After the said bout, Pacquiao announced his supposed retirement in boxing.
