Kris dinala ng ambulansiya sa ospital

Ni: Dindo Balares May bad news at may good news.

Demon Hunters, Soft Powers and the Asia Pacific's Next Growth Frontier

Image
By Eduardo Pedrosa   Culture and creativity are no longer sidelines of economic life. From K-pop to gaming and film, the Asia-Pacific’s creative industries are emerging as a trillion-dollar growth engine, and APEC is taking steps to unlock their full potential. I have not seen K-Pop Demon Hunter. My children insist it is brilliant, and Korea’s President Lee Jae-myung has praised it too, particularly the character “Duffy.” On the surface, it is another slick animated movie where protagonists fight battles through song and music. But look closer, and it tells a much bigger story.  The film is a product of regional cooperation: Korean culture and music as the soul, Japanese corporate muscle in production, Canadian and Mexican artists lending voices, Chinese and Filipino animators contributing their craft, American distribution taking it global. What emerges is not just entertainment, but a seamless web of creativity, commerce and cooperation that crosses borders with ...

Public affairs program Cayetano in Action with Boy Abunda (CIA with BA) scored consecutive victories at the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) Star Awards for Television, winning both the 37th and 38th editions of the annual event.   The 37th awards, originally for 2023, were delayed due to the pandemic and other concerns. They were finally held on August 24, 2025, months after the 38th PMPC Awards took place last March. Despite the unusual schedule, CIA with BA was named Best Public Affairs Program in both editions.  Its hosts—Senator Alan Peter Cayetano, Senator Pia Cayetano, and Boy Abunda—were also recognized as Best Public Affairs Program Hosts. The show’s recognition came shortly after its premiere in 2023. Now on its 11th season,  CIA with BA continues the legacy of the Cayetano siblings’ late father, Senator Rene Cayetano, whose program Compañero y Compañera guided Filipinos on legal concerns in the 1990s and early 2000s. In a Facebook Live, Se...
